Welcome to Glynn Art!

Established in 1953, Glynn Art Association (GAA) is a non-profit 501(c) 3 organization. It is supported through donations by its membership which is comprised of visual artists and art patrons. The Glynn Art Association’s mission is to promote and encourage creative expression with an emphasis on the visual arts and to enable its integration into the community.

Glynn Art recognizes the importance of the arts to everyday life and has resolved to work toward fulfilling the vision of education and the creation of a strong cultural climate while providing the community and visitors with opportunities to advance their knowledge, appreciation, and participation in the creative experience. Glynn Art stimulates such a climate through exhibitions, lectures, studio classes, field trips and workshops for citizens of all age groups, from children to the retired.

The Glynn Art Association is composed of visual artists and art lovers who live full or part time within the area and provides juried artists with a venue for displaying and marketing their artwork. It is not funded by the state or county government.  It relies solely on its members, sales of artworks, festivals, and special events. Glynn Art’s Gallery exhibits oil, watercolor, acrylic, and mixed media paintings; etchings; photography; pottery; sculpture; jewelry; basketry; jewelry; fiber and decorative arts.

Invitations are mailed for monthly art exhibits featuring various media at the gallery.  There are two national juried shows held at the Gallery each year, the “Georgia Coastal National Show” with two and three dimensional media and the “Welcome to My World” photography exhibition.  Glynn Art hosts three annual arts festivals during April, October, and December.  These festivals are well attended and showcase many artists who return year after year.  The association also has monthly e-newsletters and quarterly newsletters.

The Glynn Art Gallery is located in the “heart” of St. Simons Island at 319 Mallery Street in the quaint Pier Village on the south end of the Island. The gallery is open Tuesday through Saturday from 9am to 5pm. Our Pottery Studio is located a short distance away and offers adult and children’s classes.  Pottery studio membership is available to potters with advanced skills in ceramics. We hope you will join us as a new member, potential juried artist, volunteer, and/or student. Memberships and donations are tax deductible. Please contact us on how you can give.

Again, welcome to St. Simons and we look forward to seeing you at Glynn Art!
