Inspiring and nourishing our community with the visual arts

Glynn Art

Glynn Art Association is an art gallery and association based in Glynn County, Georgia in beautiful St. Simon Island. Originally in Pier Village, Glynn Art Association moved north of the village in order to accommodate new facilities and expanded programming while still maintaining its presence downtown, in the very heart of their community. Vastly popular with tourists for its picturesque landscape, St. Simon Island has become quite the artistic community as well, and Glynn Art Association is at the forefront of helping foster a deep, rich arts community while spreading the joy of art to all members of the community, no matter their age, experience, or background.

Founded in 1953, this 501(c)3 nonprofit organization believes the arts are a great way to build a strong society—not just artistically, but culturally. They prove this dedication through the work they do for their artists, offering a variety of opportunities to members. In the past several decades, these opportunities have ranged from exhibition in the GlynnArt Gallery in downtown Pier Village to juried contests through which artists can receive feedback about their work.

In addition to specific events and exhibits for artists, Glynn Art Association also offers classes for both experienced artists and novices. These classes have ranged in topic from pottery to jewelry-making to watercolor painting and outdoor painting. These classes feature a wide range of ages as well, with classes available to young children (including programs at youth shelters) to classes specifically for senior citizens. Glynn Art Association is dedicated to the idea that everyone can enjoy art, and they continue to offer classes and workshops year round to foster an exposure to and deepening of the arts in their area.

Students also often have the opportunity to enjoy having their work featured in exhibitions, sometimes right alongside work from their instructors. There are also a number of community festivals and other events held throughout the year. Although the specific festival times and schedules vary from year to year, one thing is consistent: Glynn Art Association is committed to making art exciting for everyone.

Their facility north of Pier Village allows for even more expansive service to the community, with more space not only for member artists, but also for community members to rent out space for weddings, parties, and other events.

Glynn Art Association is thankful for all of the members, volunteers, and financial partners who help make their work in the community possible.
